Laboratory Technician

Performs laboratory testing of various customer supplied, quality control or round robin samples for purposes such as qualitative analysis and process control. Certifies that samples conform to specifications as per customer and/or industry requirements.

As instructed by the Laboratory Manager and Supervisor as requested from the Operations Department and under the strict guidelines described in the quality SOP and ASTM/API procedures:

• Analyzes customer, round robin and/or quality control samples as per industry standards and company procedures in order to verify conformity to specifications and/or standards.
• Document each test result and maintain neat, complete, and accurate records. Prepares corresponding customer or internal reports as per standard procedures.
• Maintains sample process including the login, labeling and disposal of all samples as per internal company procedures.
• Performs Quality Assurance/Quality Control testing as required for each instrument and, if authorized, calibrates instruments as per internal procedures and schedules.
• If authorized, maintains laboratory, instruments, equipment and supplies in good working order. Notifies Laboratory Manager or Supervisor if equipment is not functioning properly or if additional supplies may be needed.
• Reports to the Laboratory Manager, but may receive direction on day-to-day activities from Laboratory Supervisor.

• A completed MBO/HBO education in the direction of All-round Laboratory Manager or Chemical Analyst
• Preferably experience in the petrochemical industry
