What will you do as a Contracts Manager?

As a Contracts Manager, you will ensure optimized contracting strategies for projects in relation to risks, location and resources. Next to that, you will negotiate specific contracts in line with the defined contracting strategy and Vopak standards. You will also contribute to the BU NL and global contracting management policies & procedures and transfer of knowledge.

• Master’s level by education or experience in a related field required (Technical, Business, or Legal);

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in contracting, preferably in the oil & gas sector;

• Excellent knowledge of and experience with FIDIC, NEC, UAV and UAV-GC contract formats;

• Knowledge of and experience with Claims, Arbitration and DAB procedures;

• Solid hands-on experience with the conducting of tenders and evaluation of tenders;

• Strong negotiation, influencing, collaboration and partnering skills;

• Fluent in English and Dutch (written and verbal);

As Contracts Manager, you will be part of the BU NL Sourcing & Procurement team and report to Director Sourcing & Procurement. You are a sparring partner to the nominated Project Manager(s).

Your core responsibilities are:

• Define the contracting strategy for the assigned projects;

• Develops plans and manage all contractual aspects of projects in execution, warranting predictability of time and costs, and avoidance of arbitration and legal procedures

• Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of the engineering services providers and contractors market.

• Compile and manage tenders (such as EPC, EPCM and/or Construction Only), in line with the defined contracting strategies;

• Conduct contractor pre-qualifications and RFI’s for the project;

• Analyze bids and negotiate contracts in close collaboration with the project manager;

• Member of the BU NL TenderBoard for selected projects;

• Assist and/or manage Project Teams regarding contract compliance, variation and claim procedures during the project execution;

• Assures disputes are handled in the best interest of Vopak;

• Advise the Project teams on contractual risks and their mitigation strategies;

• Develop and maintain tools to warrant best practices in contracting, selection and follow up during construction

• Organize the transfer of contractual knowledge and contract management skills within the relevant part of the organization

• Participate in project audits focusing on contractual performance
