At Air Products, our purpose is to bring people together to reimagine what’s possible, collaborate and innovate solutions to the world’s most significant energy and environmental sustainability challenges. Grow with us as we embark on building tomorrow together by being the safest, most diverse and most profitable industrial gas company in the world.

Reimagine What’s Possible

We are currently looking for an Assistant Plant Supervisor to join our team in Rotterdam-Botlek to support the growth of the site with a new world scale blue hydrogen production facility with carbon capture.

The Botlek site is Air Products largest site in the Rotterdam region and is home to large scale air separation units, a liquid hydrogen plant, and a new blue hydrogen plant with carbon capture under construction. The site supplies industrial gases and hydrogen to customers in the oil and gas and chemicals industry via an integrated pipeline system and via trucks to many different industries in the Benelux and beyond.

You will be supporting the Plant Supervisor and the operations team of the site to drive safe, reliable, stable and efficient operations. The role requires coordinating activities between various internal and external organizations and customers in the region, as well as supporting day-to-day operations.
This role is intended to provide professional development opportunities to allow you to progress into our leadership roles. This is especially important given the significant regional growth of Air Products and its key role in driving the energy transition in the Port of Rotterdam.

  • Collaborate closely with our regional business team on customer and contractual developments.

  • Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including solving plant process or mechanical problems and coordinate maintenance activities with our own onsite maintenance organization.

  • Interfacing with our own on-site maintenance team, engineering team and turnaround organization to ensure alignment on best practices and commonality of approach for short, medium- and long-term plans and activities.

  • Monitor plant efficiency and produce efficiency reports.

  • Identifying, proposing, and leading execution of specific productivity opportunities.

  • Be involved in the management of change process.

  • Support of external agency inspections as required.

  • Advising the Plant Supervisor with organizational developments and growing the capabilities of the plant operations team and their members.

  • Be responsible for reporting of incidents, as well as coordination and follow up of actions resulting from incident investigations.

  • Take part in commissioning and start-up of new equipment/projects, including the new blue hydrogen production facility with carbon capture.

  • Replace the Plant Supervisor in his/her absence.

Your profile:
  • A degree in an engineering discipline.

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in operational and/or engineering roles in the oil/gas or chemicals industry.

  • The ability to communicate proficiently in Dutch and English.

  • The ability to organize, priorities and plan work activities in a structured and disciplined manner.

  • Be able to think in solutions and solve challenges, while focusing on details.

  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills (customers, regulator bodies, plant teams, AP contacts).

  • An unwavering focus on safety, integrity and honesty.
