Introduction

Wilhelmsen Ships Service is looking for a Technical Sales Manager

The Technical Sales Manager will be tasked with growing sales within the welding and Gasses segment. Acting as a point of reference and authority for the sales product group. Formulating technical knowledge to customers to define key selling points and provide value. Taking an active role in the technical sales process and dealing with advanced technical questions as well as deal closings. Working with the Sales Manager and Account Managers to develop agreed budgets for targeted customers and to proactively support the quality of the sales pipeline in order to increase growth. Reviewing, commenting and challenging Account Managers on sales opportunities in Salesforce, or lack thereof, by utilizing tools such as Global Sales Focus Plan, Sales Activity Plans (SAPs) and other internal and external intelligence. Hunting for new and contracted business together with AMs and proactively seek new sales opportunities. Aligning customer needs through close collaboration with Customer Services. Actively promoting, implementing, championing whilst driving existing and new concepts and offers.

Who will you work with:

The Technical Sales Manager will report to the Head of Technical Sales Management Welding & Gases. The Technical Sales Manager - Welding & Gases will be required to collaborate closely with Head of Sales Managers (HoS), Key Account Managers (KAMs), Customer Services (CS), Products & Planning Team (P&Pts) as well as the Open Innovation Team.

What you will work on:
  • Drive Sales Activities: Leveraging technical competence to drive sales, closing deals, and supporting KAMs and HoS.

  • Support and Collaboration: Assisting KAMs in budgeting, increasing sales conversion rates, and collaborating on customer-facing activities.

  • Pipeline and Opportunity Management: Managing sales pipelines, supporting KAMs in building opportunities, and focusing on high-conversion customers.

  • Customer and Team Support: Providing day-to-day support to customers, KAMs, and CS, and collaborating with P&Pts as well as Marketing.

  • Market Intelligence and Promotion: Staying updated on market intelligence, presenting products at events, and setting high standards for technical and practical understanding within the sales team.

What you need to succeed in the role:
  • Bachelor‘s degree in engineering or related technical studies

  • 4+ years tech. experience from maritime industry, preferably worked on-board a vessel

  • Minimum 2 years direct sales experience

  • Fluency in English - both written and speaking
