Sector
Container overslagDaily we work together to make our container handling safer, faster & more reliable. APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) opened in 2015 and remains the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal. Equipped to handle the largest container ships way into the future. The use of green energy and fully electrified equipment made it the world’s first zero emission terminal for CO2, NOx and particles emissions. With fully fenced-off automated areas, separating men and machines, it is also one of the safest terminals around the world. Around 80% of crane movements are automated, with the remaining manual operations being performed remotely. More than 500 employees are employed within the organization, enabling the fully automated discharging and loading of the largest container vessels in the world.
With the terminal set to double in size through the ambitious Terminal Expansion Project and a Transformation, APMT Maasvlakte II is entering an exciting phase of growth and technological advancement. This project involves expanding terminal capacity and integrating advanced technologies, including autonomous trucks, automated systems, and cutting-edge logistics processes. Similarly, the organization is being developed to be fit for the future expanded terminal. Delivering a fully integrated, commissioned, and operational terminal to a trained operations team is a key.
To support the APMT Maasvlakte II TECH organization, we are seeking a Project Planner who will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, analyzing, and optimizing the terminal’s integrated TECH project schedule. This role involves consolidating scheduling inputs from various terminal teams and effectively managing the risk log.
The role also includes implementing APMT’s scheduling standards, identifying potential delays and mitigation strategies, and ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders to support successful project execution.
-
Set-up the overall master baseline schedule for the MVII-TECH organization, based on initial teams’ schedules and updated with the contractually agreed baseline schedules from consultants, contractors and suppliers – in line with company standards (WBS, scheduling and EVM).
-
Maintain, track and progress the master baseline schedule(s), identify and analyze delays and suggest improvements through iteration of (alternative) scenarios.
-
Directly liaise with the terminal TECH teams as well as with the MVII-Expansion project planner to obtain insight in potential delays and schedule improvements.
-
Manage all changes and risks to the schedule(s).
-
Monitor vendor delivery progress, follow-up on delivery status, and control progress in a transparent manner (progress and delivery are the responsibilities of the consultants, contractors and suppliers).
-
Influence the decision-making processes on the overall planning aspects of the project.
-
Ensure that all activities, including end-phase activities, milestones and deliverables are addressed early in the project.
-
Support the Contract Managers with the administration of all contracts.
-
Create and present regular schedule updates according to best practices.
-
Proactive, self-starter who owns the targeted integrated planning and obtains or co-creates the content.
-
Implement and uphold APMT’s WBS, scheduling, EVM and reporting standards.
-
In line with corporate standards, implement best in class planning practices across the construction project and ensure they are consistently deployed by all parties.
-
Monitor and assess scheduling opportunities, risks and subsequent mitigation strategies, and track such risks through input into the project risk register.
-
Provide structural feedback to the PE / CCM team.
-
Ensure clear communication within the TECH department.
-
Ensure consistent input into project reporting.
-
Meet regularly with (the planners of) consultants, contractors and suppliers to maintain full awareness of issues which may impact scope, progress, interfaces and/or milestones.
-
Address emerging issues with the TECH department heads of department.
-
Work closely with the TECH teams as well as with the Expansion Project team’s project planner ensuring that:
-
Dependencies from elements outside the team’s responsibilities (e.g. operations, commercial, legal, HR, etc.) are well understood, and the Project Managers understand impacts of schedule changes towards delivery.
-
Liaise with the APMT CCM department to ensure consistency with company standards.
We are looking for you because you have:
-
Minimum 3 years professional project planning experience: of high complexity and variety in the fields of automation, equipment, installations and/or IT, and with setting up and maintaining an overall project WBS, scheduling and EVM.

A challenging position at one of the most innovative container terminals in the world.
-
The opportunity to develop further, personally and professionally.
